The summer break over, on 26th September Jansons reconvened their monthly clay pigeon shoot at the West London Shooting School. I don’t know how they do it but, despite threatening weather early in the morning, once again the rain held off and conditions actually improved as the morning progressed.
Jansons’ hosts were Andy, Michael and Huw and their guests were (in no particular order) Stuart Williams, Mike Finn, Mark Paynter, Peter Turner, Ian Allan, Rob Bray, Phil Charalambous, Russell Smith, David Potter and Nick Finn. Huw and Ian seem to have avoided the group picture, so not even 15 seconds of fame for you this week guys.
The instructors who went out with the groups were their usual cheery selves. No wonder, what a lovely job. As well as ‘away birds’, ‘teals’ and ‘up and overs’, a few ‘rabbits’ were sent off to provide even more variety. There was a shoot off between Nick Finn and Rob Bray for Top Gun of the day. Rather than both shooting at the same clay, they each had ten shots. Unfortunately, their scores were still matching and they had to do a sudden death shoot off, whoever got the clay first.
Before the eagerly anticipated full English breakfast, Andy awarded the prizes. Nick had won the shoot off, so was Top Gun. He, Rob and Andy also won the team event, the usual forty clay team flush, which ends the shoot with a bang.
Breakfast over, everyone went their separate ways. There’ll be another shoot soon, check back here for the report.
